So! You want to learn how to do a quality deepfake swap? But not just any deepfake. You’d like to learn how to create a simulation that comes off as confident, ultra-charismatic, and speaks mostly in platitudes despite your source material being a bit… boring? I shouldn’t say boring… how about “normal”. We’re seeing this trend pop up more and more over recent months. Content creators are leveraging unusable clips in their camera roll and taking them to new heights to boost their audience. The process is a little bit complicated and it’ll take a tiny bit of finessing to get there. But with this tutorial, in no time you can have your own Fake Deep deepfake.
What you’re gonna do is start by opening SENTIENZ 4D and click “New Project…”
You’re then going to see a screen pop up that’s titled “Choose Template”. You’re going to scroll all the way down until the end past all the options. And if you look where my cursor’s going… there’s a plus button there at the very end for “Specialty” projects. That’ll open up a folder in your Finder. Scroll down — it’s organized alphabetically — and click on the folder labeled “P”. In there, you’ll see the Sentienz 4D file for “Politician.stz”.
Click on it.
Once you do, an error window is going to pop-up that’ll say “Template Not Authorized. Admin User Error 334: Too Straightforward.”
That’s good! That means we’re on the right track. What you’re going to do from there is then open up your Terminal app and type the following command:
sudo sumnsumnsumn sumn sumn n*ggaihavenoideawhatimtalking about
And then hit the return key.
It should grant you access automatically, but if not, then close the SENTIENZ 4D app and open it up again. Go through the same template process to find the “Politician.stz” file in the specialty folder again, and click on it.
Voila! You’re in! The project file should be open.
Without going into too much detail about SENTIENZ 4D’s backend permissions, the command we typed into Terminal was able to fool the computer into thinking that we met the criteria for a shrewd, one-man-band, campaign-speech style deepfake project, granting us access to the template features.
From there, you’re going to go to File > New Sequence…
Name it whatever you want. I’m going to call mine… um… FakeDeepDeepFakeTest_v1
Now drop in your video file.
Here I have a video of my cousin Pernell, sitting down holding our 2-year old niece Daphne at the last thanksgiving. I chose it because he’s an example of someone who taught me everything I know. He’s older than me by several years, but we basically grew up together. And I would consider him an example of someone who could never lie to me, and always kept it real whenever I went to him for advice. But at the same time, he’s a good source clip because if I wanted to draw the most amount of eyes to my platform, my thoughtful, loving cousin would probably bore people to death. He’s really not that charismatic and sometimes he’ll stop in the middle of his sentences to pause and think about what he’s saying.
But no worries, we’ll fix that.
Once you have the video file loaded into the timeline, with the clip selected, go to Tools > Scene Conversion > Analyze Clip Integrity…
And it’s only because we’re in this template is this option available. The pop-up will ask if you want to analyze the motion, as well as the voice. Click on “Yes” and let it run.
Now here’s where it can get tricky if your computer has a limited graphics card. What we’re about to attempt is not necessarily a low-processor ask. Turns out that taking a clip and trying to assess the mannerisms, the speech patterns and the movement is going to require some heavy lifting. Give a few minutes, leave and come back. If it truly stalls, you should restart your computer and try again.
But once you get it to work, you should see results right away.
So in my original clip, Pernell — while holding my niece in his lap — is talking about his experience being raised by our grandma, Mom-mom, who’s sitting next to him. My grandma passed just this past Spring and this is one of the last videos we have of her, so it’s a little surreal to watch her. Pernell is joking about how Mom-mom used to call him by his nickname “Three Feet”. He learned to walk before all the other cousins, but the thing was that he was fast as hell. Like, he was moving all over the place and they could never get him to slow down. “Come here Three! Where you goin!”, Mom-mom would say.
[laughs]
Good times, man. And sometimes we still call him that, too, whenever he finishes his food first or is the first to arrive somewhere. “Yeah, there go Three doing his thing again.”
[laughs]
But if we play the clip back now, we see that the software analyzed Pernell’s most dominant movement — him rubbing my niece’s back — and shifted some things around. He’s now moving his hands around wildly while telling the story, very passionately. Hmm. And it also moved my niece off his lap to the floor area. The software was also able to add the “Cha Cha Slide” audio to the background of the clip, so she’s now in the middle of the room baby-dancing to it. Interesting. And so here we also see… um… okay. Mom-mom is still next to Pernell but now she’s sitting in a more upright position than before, nodding vigorously as he recounts the story. Okay. That’s a choice. Let’s scrub a little bit more here…
See, the Analyze Clip Integrity tool did all kinds of other little stuff too if you look closer. So like I said before, my cousin tends to take awhile to formulate his thoughts. It’s one of my favorite things about him. But now if we scrub through, you can hear the clip has all the pregnant pauses cut out of it, and there’s a snappiness to the things he’s saying. Kinda weird, but… it‘ll help in the long run, I guess. The colors on his shirt are brightened and any kind of logos are completely stamped out. Not to mention the process condensed the original video from 3 minutes down to 45 seconds.
This is a great start.
These are really important adjustments to help us prepare for the next step. The next step is where we want to fine-tune the scene even more. Using the specific project tools we can take the scene conversion even further.
So, say I’m looking to have my cousin — or should I say my new cousin — land on a topic that is much closer to my channel or the platform I’m aiming for. We can use the Clout Tool (Shift + Command + X), right here in the toolbar to change that up. So I type “Self-Empowerment” into the text field that pops up, set it at somewhere like 65%, and hit enter.
This process is also a very CPU-heavy one. So you’re gonna click “Yes” on the pop-up… and then “Yes” on the next one… and… here, my queue says it should take about 8 minutes for the render to complete.
But while we wait, I have a question.
How did you find this video? Was it a struggle? Did you know what you were looking for? I’m so curious and you should be too. Why? Because…
[synthetic sounds as bright pink brain-matter logo appears on one half of screen]
This video is sponsored by Mindhump™. Mindhump is known for it’s patented Slopstream technology, which gives your curious mind the maximum amount of avenues to explore. But more important is the new initiative Mindhump just announced — called Hyphenate™ — perfect for creators like you and me. Just type in a keyword like “deepfake” into the search bar, and it’ll pair you with one of the instructors on the platform as well as a grid of aggregated deepfake tutorials from all over the various skill-based websites. No more getting locked into one specific online education platform. Your instructor will walk you through and help you prune out which specific online skill improvement videos — not courses — from the various online skill improvement websites are best for you. A little bit here, a little bit there. You can now learn all kinds of skills from all kinds of platforms, multiplying the possibilities for online-based self-improvement even more.
Now, a little inside baseball here: I’m one of the early signees to Hyphenate’s instructor program, so I’ll get a percentage of the revenue from signups. But lucky for you, if you use my promo code GDASHRAUD23 you’ll get 10% off the basic membership plan.
[synthetic sounds stop and logo is removed from the screen]
So now that the process has finished, let’s take a look.
Wow, interesting.
Ummm.
Hmmm.
So… Mom-mom is now standing? That’s an interesting idea, she was barely mobile at this stage of her life. But okay. So when we play it back we see that she’s really adamant and supportive of Pernell’s story. You can hear her saying “Yup! That’s right.” And “That’s exactly what I been saying this whole time!” And “Where you think he got that from??”. Well, not sure where they got that from.
Let’s just press play and see what he’s saying:
[sound of spacebar being hit]
“See, now here’s the thing for you young ones. Listen to this. What goes up, always has to come down. So when you’re thinking about how to structure your own thoughts… always think about that. But don’t overthink it either. For real. When I was coming up — same age as you — there was nothing around like the resources that y’all all have today. I had get there on my own two feet. Trust me on that. Just think about it.
And it’s not about being first, it’s about growth. Like seeds. I don’t know if y’all caught that. Every single one of y’all are seeds and just need water to grow.”
[sound of spacebar being hit]
Let me just pause it real quick.
It seems my niece has now been multiplied and aged some? Okay, I see what’s happening. So now there is a group of 6 or 7 young teenagers sitting cross-legged on the floor that Sentienz added. And they’re all listening to Purnell really attentively. Okay. Gonna keep going.
[sound of spacebar being hit]
“And seeds grow into plants, right? What do plants need? Sun. Shine. That’s right. So shine a light on each other. Care for each other. Right? Don’t run before you can walk. That’s what I tried to do, but it only had me trippin’. You see what I’m sayin?
Focus on your goals. Don’t sit on them and wait around for someone to help you. That’s goalkeeping. Right? Think about it. Go be a leader. Just like Mom-mom here, she raised me to be a leader. I have leader in my blood. You do, too. That’s why you’ve been sent here to this moment, to hear what I’m trying to say to you.
The world is your oyster. And that’s a pearl of wisdom. Take it or leave it, young ones. The choice is yours.”
[sound of spacebar being hit]
And here, at the very end of the video… yup. Welp. So the young kids all come rushing to hug Purnell and he flashes a smile at the camera. Wow. Okay, okay. Well, he would never do that but hey, that’s… you know… that’s what the software wanted. And it also wanted Mom-mom to be a fucking hype man.
[deep exhale]
Ummm. I’m not really sure if you can go back and change small stuff and make adjustments here and there? I’ll look into it, but maybe that’ll be a topic for another video.
But there you have it? I guess. You’re obviously going to want to save your project, and export it however you want and stuff. If you don’t know how to do that then, shit. I don’t know. There’s probably a tutorial out there for it.
Hmmmm. You know I just — you know what. Lemme play it back one more time…
[sound of spacebar being hit]
Mmmm.
[sobbing]
Okay. Mom-mom shouldn’t… just… that doesn’t even make sens —
[abrupt sound of video jump-cutting as speaker is now wearing a different outfit]
So yeah! There you have it. Thanks for watching, fellow creator. Fake deep deepfake is all the rage nowadays. Most content online nowadays has time limits so we understand why, even if you have something important to say, you would wanna come off as really persuasive even if you didn’t have the time to do any research or provide any amount of context. Hopefully this tutorial helped and you can now start leveraging the content in your library.
And if you liked this video, don’t forget to like and subscribe.
Keep it locked and see you on the next one! G-Raudy out!
